Basic Approach to Compliance
Within the Group, we regard compliance with not only laws and regulations but also broader social norms as one of the most important management issues, and we clearly state that compliance takes top priority. Based on this basic policy, we have established a compliance framework that enables each officer and employee, as a practitioner of compliance, to put into practice and verify conduct that adheres to laws and regulations, internal rules, and ethical and moral standards.
Compliance Framework
In line with the basic policy of placing the highest priority on compliance, officers and employees are required to put this into practice in their daily work. In situations where they are unsure how to judge a matter or when doubts arise, they are expected to promptly report or consult with their supervisors or the relevant departments to ensure the best possible response. Guidance on matters that are particularly important and require special attention in the execution of duties is posted on the company intranet as the Compliance Manual. In addition, we have established a Compliance Desk System that enables employees and others to report or seek advice when they become aware of compliance-related issues or concerns. Under this system, they can contact the Compliance Supervisory Department, the designated attorney, the SC Compliance Office, or the SMFG General Affairs Department, thereby ensuring a framework for prompt response. To support these efforts, we have also established the Compliance Committee as the central body for promoting compliance within the Company, tasked with developing and strengthening the compliance framework.
