Advancing a Mobility Society through the Creation of New Value

Sustainability

The automotive industry is said to be undergoing a once-in-a-century transformation. Amid this rapidly changing mobility market, SMAS aims to contribute to the evolution of the mobility society by continuously providing customers with new value and ever-advancing services.

Direction of Our Initiatives

Evolution into a Mobility Platform Provider

SMAS aims to evolve into a full-fledged mobility platform provider by integrating the next-generation automotive industry trends CASE1 and MaaS2 with our core business foundation. Through this approach, we provide new value and advanced mobility services that go beyond the conventional framework of auto leasing.
In addition, we offer solutions that help customers reduce vehicle-related costs and improve operational efficiency. These efforts include not only increasing leased vehicle volumes, but also proposing the optimal number of vehicles held for each customer, offering car-sharing options that enhance company vehicle utilization, and developing solutions that seamlessly combine services such as peak-season rental car arrangements.
Furthermore, to help build a safe and secure society, we actively promote the introduction of vehicles equipped with safety technologies. At the same time, we are enhancing and transforming the accident-reduction programs that SMAS has cultivated over many years, and providing them as new solutions.

  1. CASE is an acronym for four major technological trends in the automotive field: Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services, and Electric.
  2. MaaS is an acronym for Mobility as a Service. A concept that connects multiple modes of transportation, such as railways, buses, taxis, passenger ships, airplanes, car-sharing, and bicycle-sharing, into a single integrated service, fundamentally transforming the way people move.

Key Initiatives

Mobility Passport

Mobility Passport is a Business MaaS application designed to meet increasingly diverse mobility needs. With its driver functions, users can perform all pre- and post-drive tasks within a single app, such as reserving company vehicles, recording alcohol test results, and creating/submitting driving reports. With its administrator functions, the app also enables the approval and management of driving reports, operational management of company vehicles, and other features that improve vehicle-related workflows. Even when no company vehicles are available, users can directly reserve rental cars, car-sharing vehicles, or taxis from within the app, enabling smooth and seamless mobility. Furthermore, through integration with external applications, users can search and book domestic and international hotels, flights, and Shinkansen tickets all in one place.

Promotion of the Telematics Service SMAS-Smart Connect

Since 2019, SMAS has offered SMAS-Smart Connect, a safe-driving telematics* service that supports diversified working styles and evolving mobility needs. In addition to conventional driving management and accident-reduction support, this service uses mobility data (driving data) transmitted from onboard devices. By leveraging mobility data, we provide customers not only with detailed driving management, but also with enhanced company vehicle oversight and safe-driving support tailored to individual driving characteristics.

SMAS-Smart Connect

Telematics is a term combining telecommunication and informatics, referring to services that use mobile communication systems such as cellular networks installed in vehicles to provide various mobility-related services.

Focus on Traffic Accident Reduction Consulting

In 1998, SMAS established a specialized department, now known as the RMS (Risk Management Solutions) Department, to promote safe driving and reduce automobile accidents. Since then, we have continued to support our customers in working toward the goal of zero traffic accidents.
Our approach begins by visualizing the challenges faced by our customers and identifying their underlying causes. Based on this analysis, we propose optimal improvement plans and support activities that help achieve accident-reduction targets.

Support for Building Safe-Driving Management Systems

Many companies view traffic accident reduction as one of their key management priorities. To help advance these efforts, SMAS supports the development of safe-driving management frameworks tailored to each customer's organization.

Support for Building Safe-Driving Education Systems

SMAS assists customers in establishing their safe-driving education systems by planning annual activity programs using the services we offer, such as safe-driving training seminars, ADST, an on-road driving skills program conducted at partner driving schools, and e-learning programs. These initiatives support efforts toward zero accidents.
In addition, our safe-driving training seminars now include a rich lineup of on-demand streaming content, helping promote the digital transformation (DX) of safe-driving education.
