Sustainability
We, SMAS, procure cars from the car manufacturers and the car dealers and lease them to its corporate clients and municipalities. In addition, we also provide the mobility services to ensure safe and secure use of cars. By such nature of our business, our activities of Circular Economy is focused on the support to our clients' sustainable procurement and sustainable use of cars.
Sustainable procurement
We see no waste in procurement and supply of the cars and the parts as they are structured to meet the demand. To offer the cars to the clients, we proactively procure high-quality, decarbonized, low carbon cars with manufacturers' warranties in order to ensure that our clients can use high-quality products for long time.
Support Sustainable Use
In SMAS, our primary business revolves around the car leasing. Meanwhile, we also offer the clients the fleet optimization service where the car rental and car sharing are combined with the car leasing. The values of the service are to reduce the fleet size for the cars of limited use and to use the saving by the reduction to fund electrification of the fleet. We support to maintain the clients' cars in good condition by the fleet management services that include the maintenance service and contribute to extending the useful life of the clients' cars. We also contribute to saving the natural resources and reducing CO2 emission by proactive use of the green parts like the rebuilt parts, the fuel efficient (eco) tires and all-season tires in certain regions when replacing the parts or tires.
Reuse Cars of Lease Expiry as Used Cars
Every year 70,000 cars or more are out of lease as the lease expire at SMAS. Many of them are sold as the used cars of good quality. Recently we promote using those cars for the used car lease and car rental. Since 2018, SMAS has been working with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Corporation on the "EV Cascade Reuse Project" to promote new secondary useage of used EV, and is currently accelerating our efforts at the Company based on these findings.
Develop Auto Recycle Business
Based on our expertise in sales of many used cars in the reuse and recycle market, we roll out auto recycling business where SMAS acts as an agent to arrange diposal of the cars of total loss upon request by the damange insurance companies, leasing companies and the others.
Manage Proper Disposal
We conduct the car diposal to ensure proper processes like controlling the manifesto and the eligible license of dismantlers in accordance with laws and regulations.
